WHAT DOES THE BLOOD OF JESUS DO FOR YOU?
The blood of Jesus has unbelievable, indescribable and immeasurable benefits for a child of God. It is the most powerful weapon that we as Christians have. It took the dying of the Cross of Calvary of our beloved Lord and Savior for us to have it today. We should therefore appreciate it and appropriate it for all that Jesus secured for us through it.
Remission of Sin through the blood
The Bible clearly teaches that without the shedding of blood there can be no remission of sin. This shedding of blood was required both in the Old and New Testament. Hebrews 9:22b.
Justified by the blood
We are justified by the blood of Jesus. Romans 5:8-11.
Purchased by the blood
For any sacrifice to be acceptable to God it must contain blood. 1 Peter 1:18-19. This why all the sacrifices that God stipulated should be made through Moses in the books of Leviticus and Numbers required blood as a component. Abel’s sacrifice that was make from the skin of animal was accepted by God and Cain’s which was from the crops that he planted and did not contain blood was not. Genesis 4:1-5.
Redeemed by the blood (1 Peter 1:18-19)
Now, unlike under the Old Testament, it is only the sanctified blood of Jesus, the sinless one, that can redeem us. This blood was shed for the eternal redemption of mankind on the Cross of Calvary. Hebrew 9:12. Without the cross, the blood is powerless. Only this blood can atone for man’s sins. Hebrew 10:1-4.
This is why the covering of fig leaves made by Adam and Eve to cover their nakedness which represented their sin nature exposed was a useless and vain exercise as far as God was concerned. Adam’s self-righteousness through his human efforts could not cover it either. God had to step in and make them covering from animal skins which again contained blood. Genesis 3:21. This was a pointer to the blood of Jesus which in the future would once and for all atone for our sins.
Prayer: Blood of Jesus, wash away my sins and cover my nakedness.
Cleansed by the blood (Revelation 1:5; 1 John 1:7)
It takes the blood of Jesus for our sins to be washed away. Without this there can be no reconciliation with God. The Bible clearly teaches that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23. It goes further to say that anyone that says that he has not sinned is a liar. 1 John 10. So we all need cleansing and purging from our sins. But today I have good news for you. The blood of Jesus can wash and take away all your sins if you confess and renounce them.
“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Isaiah 1:18.”
When we confess our sins, they are forgiven and we are cleansed from all unrighteousness.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9.
All of our righteousness is as filthy rags the bible says. Isaiah 64:6. It is only the blood of Jesus that cleanses us from all unrighteousness.
Besides pleading the blood of Jesus over our lives, we can put our lives and everything pertaining to it inside the blood of Jesus and wash it. This includes our home, family, marriage, career, glory, business, education, profitable documents, etc.
Sanctified by the Blood of Jesus
“Wherefore Jesus also that he might sanctify with his blood suffered without the gate.”
Hebrews 13:12.
To sanctify is to consecrate yourself for the purpose that God has called you. It means to be separated unto God and for His use.
Perfected by the blood (Hebrews 10:14; Hebrews 13:12, 20-21)
“For by one offering he hath perfected forever them that are sanctified” Hebrew 10:14.
The blood of Jesus perfects. This means that it makes us to grow continually more like Jesus.
Purged by the blood of Jesus
“And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.” Hebrews 9:22.
The blood of Jesus purges our conscience of every evil work.Hebrews 9:14.
It purges from sin. 2 Peter 1:9. If there is sickness in our body drinking the blood of Jesus through the communion purges it and flushes it out.
Gives Access to God’s presence (Hebrews 10:19)
The blood of Jesus gives us boldness to enter into God’s presence, through such spiritual exercises as praise, worship, and prayers.
Protection in and through the blood of Jesus (Exodus:12:21-23)
The blood of Jesus provides insurance for us against all sorts of mishaps such as spiritual and physical accidents, disasters, and tragedies.
You simply put your life and all your possessions on the altar of the blood of Jesus every day. Once you do this nothing can touch or harm it. Even the most wicked serpent and scorpion cannot bite you.
Use it for your protection every night before going to bed. Apply it when in dangerous environments, home, church, business, job, and school. Invoke it when your are threatened or in danger. For example, you can apply it in case of physical and spiritual accidents, disasters, and tragedy. Say:
I take divine insurance for myself and my family, by the blood of Jesus against…………..
Victory through the blood of Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:57)
The blood of Jesus is the most powerful weapon that we have as believers against the enemy whose sole agenda is to kill, steal and destroys. John 10:10a. It is through this victory that we get to enjoy abundant life in Christ:
“But I am come that you may have life and that more abundantly.” John 10:10b.
The blood of Jesus gives us victory over all negative circumstances and battles.
We can actually invoke the blood of Jesus to fight for us by praying the following prayer:
Blood of Jesus fight for me now.
You can invoke it against physical and spiritual attacks. For example, for victory in human courts and also for victory in witchcraft court and the evil verdicts that emanate from both. Even in our dreams, we can call on the blood of Jesus when attacked or oppressed. That is why oppressive powers try to prevent us from shouting “Blood of Jesus” in the dream. Pray the prayer below very aggressively.
Every stubborn battle raging in my life, be dismantled by the blood of Jesus.
The blood of Jesus gives us victory over stubborn pursuers. The stubborn pursuer could be a Herod who is out to destroy the new things that God is doing in your life. It could be a Cain, representing unrepentant household wickedness powers. Or it could be a pharaoh that represents that stubborn and arrogant pursuer that wants to keep you in captivity forever. Maybe for you today, it is victory over Goliath, the boasting pursuer with great confidence in his sorcery and witchcraft. Pray like this:
- I paralyze evil hands and evil legs walking about for my sake by the power in the blood of Jesus.
- Everywhere my name has been circulated to for evil, blood of Jesus, fire of God visit them today for judgment.
- Where is the Lord God of Elijah, Arise and let every enchantment assigned against me and my house be disgraced now.
The blood of Jesus speaks for you (Hebrew 12:24; Genesis 4:10)
We learnt earlier, that blood speaks. The blood of Jesus can speak for you where you cannot speak for yourself. It is a great prayer to say:
Blood of Jesus speak for me where I cannot speak for myself.
In the book of revelation we are told that the blood of the saints spoke against their prosecutors. We are also told that the Blood of Jesus speaks better things than the blood of Abel. We can ask the blood of Jesus to speak better things into every area of our lives especially areas that we are operating below God’s standard for us. It can give us success in life’s endeavors. Say:
Blood of Jesus speak success into every area of my life.
Guaranteed by the blood of JesusUnder the Old Testament, the covenants with God were sealed by the blood of animals. Exodus 24:6; Hebrews 9:18. Under the New Testament, all covenants between God and man are sealed by the blood of Jesus. The blood of Jesus, through adoption through Christ, also grants us access to all the blessings contained in God’s covenants with Abraham.Seals and Confirms Our Personal Covenant with GodThe new contract (covenant) between God and man is a new covenant that is based on faith in Jesus Christ. This new covenant is sealed with the blood of Jesus Christ. This covenant, the conditions, and the privileges that come with it as laid down in the Bible are real. We should receive it by faith knowing that God is not a man that He should lie, nor the son of man that He should repent. Numbers 23:19.
The Blood of Jesus Closes Bad Open DoorsWhen there is sin, either ours or our ancestors, God’s hands are tied and the devil is able to attack God’s children. This goes on until the victim shuts the open doors through repentance of all known sins and applies the Blood of Jesus to close the door

We renew this contract with God each time we partake of the communion. The communion consists of the bread, which represents the body of Christ and the wine, which represents His blood. The conditions for partaking or renewing remain the same. It is repentance from sin because God cannot behold sin. The communion is a symbol of a vibrant relationship with God. It is an affirmation of our covenant with Him. As we partake of communion we apply the blood of Jesus for our deliverance, healing, provision, protection, and other needs. As we partake of the bread, the bread is broken all over again for our healing etc. As we do so, it is a remembrance all over again that by His stripes wewere healed. We must stay under the cover of the blood so that the devil will flee from us when he sees the blood. HOW DO I GET THE BLOOD OF JESUS TO WORK FOR ME?
There are certain things that can prevent the blood of Jesus from working for us even as Christians. The blood of Jesus will not work for you if you do certain things or abstain from doing certain things. For example in the bible passage below, God promised not to put any of the diseases of Egypt on His children.
“And the Lord will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.” Deuteronomy 7:15.
However, if His children forsake His ways and adopt the lifestyle of the Egyptians, then the blood will not work for them and they will be infected with the diseases of Egypt.
Get born againYou have to become part of the family of God for you to enjoy the benefits of the kingdom. So for the blood to work for you, you have to get born again. Eschew sinYou have to be in good standing with God for the blood of Jesus to work for you. Sin separates you from God and prevents the blood from working for you.Total obedience to GodThere should be total obedience to God and to His servants that He has given spiritual oversight and authority over you.
Apply the Blood of JesusJesus Christ made us kings and priests. Revelation 1:5-6. As kings we decree things and they come to pass. (Job 22:28). As priests we act as agents for Jesus Christ to perform His high priestly duties here on earth because the Bible says that He is a priest forever. This gives us the privilege to apply the blood of Jesus, to come before God on behalf of others and ourselves, and to perform other priestly duties. Therefore, under the new covenant we are prophet, priest and king and carry great authority. However, this authority has to be exercised for the blood to work for us. The Israelites were instructed to apply the blood to the lintels and the door posts of their houses. Exodus12:22-23. It was their choice to exercise this authority given to them by simply applying the blood. If they applied it, the angel of death could not come in to kill the first born. If they did not, he did and the first born died. We as New Testament priests of the Lord, should apply the blood of Jesus daily to obtain the benefits contained therein for our lives and the lives of others including family members. This might require us to put our whole life into the pool blood of Jesus to remove pollution or filthiness. It might require us to drink the blood of Jesus for our healing or purging or cleansing.
Ensure blood of Jesus is not pollutedTo do this we must ensure that the blood of Jesus is still working for us and not dried up. This is because it is very dangerous to be in a place where the blood of Jesus has dried up or has become polluted. In other words, it is better not to apply any blood at all than to apply the blood of Jesus that has become polluted or has dried up. When the blood dries up, it means that you the branch has disconnected from the vine, your source, who is Lord Jesus. When it is polluted, it means that you have adulterated the pure blood of Jesus by adding things to it such as idolatry, voodoo, enchantment, and necromancy. It is actually better if the blood of Jesus had never been present in a place, than for it dry up. Old, stale, and dried up blood of Jesus is verydangerous and can lead to a lot of diseases. Jesus is the living savior and redeemer. He is not dead and so his blood should flow fresh continuously. We cannot afford to let it grow stale, dry, or contaminated in our lives or our corporate altars. We know in the physical what being transfused with contaminated blood can do. Not only would it not cure the existing disease as it is supposed to do but it would attract other opportunistic diseases. The principle is the same way in the spiritual realm. Rather than keep the devil and his activities away, the dried up blood of Jesus will give him a license to kill, steal and destroy with impunity. One way of doing this is engaging or associating with any one or any organization where the blood has dried up or become polluted. This is why we have to be very careful where and with whom we fellowship. We should also be very careful with whom we take communion.Be Properly Located“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.” 2 Corinthians 6:17.In the scriptures above, the bible clearly says “come out from among them.” It also says “Be ye separate.” These divine instructions are not to be taken likely. There are terrible consequences when you disobey them. One such consequence is that the blood of Jesus will not work for you and the Christian ends up being afflicted with the same afflictions that the unbelievers suffer. For example, there are certain locations that a child of God should not be found. These include brothels, the shrine of the herbalist, or the local voodoo man. It also includes the shops of the psychic and tattoo man. Also there are certain food and certain places that a child of God should not eat.
Remain under the Blood (Exodus 12:12-13)
The blood only worked for the Israelites and not he Egyptians. It only protected in Goshen and not where the Egytians resided. If you allow sin to take you away from under the blood then you are not covered and the blood will not work for you.
